I organised a tour to South Africa for October, with much appreciated help from Ludwig Taschner and Sheenagh Harris of the Federation of Rose Societies of South Africa. Ludwig – an old friend of mine since the Rose Romantic convention in 1983 in Baden-Baden, Germany – recommended the Touraco Travel Services from Pretoria, which organised every detail for our trip. Thirty members of our rose society participated. It turned out to be a really fantastic tour. We only had to do as we were told. The tour was run the “German way”, that means it was punctual and highly efficient. Our tour guide, Hartmut Kahle, a partner of Touraco, knew everything about the country - the flora and fauna, the customs of the people, the politics and the best places for a stop-over. Ludwig made all the bookings for visits to the various rose parks, private gardens, nurseries and of course his own fabulous establishments.

You cannot imagine how much we enjoyed our honeymoon!
Above all the first three days at Tshukudu were absolutely perfect (we even
finally saw lions!). They took care of any small detail and at the same time
respected our privacy and make us feel part of a sort of "family". We cannot overemphasize how beautiful those days were and will strongly recommend Tshukudu to all our friends.
